This activity is based on the Roald Dahl book: The Witches. It focuses on the chapter: How to Recognize Witches. The first activity is to get learners to use their skimming and scanning skills and to extract information from the book. The second activity is an article writing task. Great for KS2 & KS3.

A fun English game designed for my KS3 class to help them with their creative writing. The board contains a series of 5 prompts which will allow the learner to build their short Science Fiction story: setting, main character, main character trait, main theme and conflict. Give the student a dice piece. They will roll the dice piece 5 times moving from left to right of the board. For example: The first number refers to the setting, the second number rolled refers to the story’s main character…etc… The learner will then write a short story based on what they rolled on the prompt board.

24X Irregular Plural Flash Cards - double sided with polka dot print on one side. These are flash cards which are useful to use with Entry Level 3 learners. In the exam, learners are expected to write the plural form of a word. They will be expected to know a list of common plural nouns that don’t follow the usual spelling conventions. Each singular noun and its irregular plural form is on one of the 24 cards. You could add an extension activity and turn this into a matching game ( match the noun to the plural form). Learners could also create a sentence which includes each word.
